Wednesday’s Thought — May His Good Spirit Lead Me on Level Ground
As I wake this morning and look at the day ahead, it feels destined to be a chaotic one. There is more on the list than there should be. In addition to our normal busy school day, the hampers are indeed “running over”, we have a necessary doctor’s appointment, a costume to make, and an FCC game. My initial reaction is to look at it and cringe, so much to do, so little time — I feel that way too often. But I also look at those things and realize, they should be fun (other than the doctor), there should be joy, there should be delight. If I can pause, and I can stop focusing on how much there is to do, but instead enjoy whatever is currently at hand, taking one thing at a time– it can feel less overwhelming, it can be less chaotic. God has placed these things before me to do today. I can do them with joy, I can do them with peace, I can do them while walking in His Spirit. When I pause, when I slow down, when I just do the next thing that He has for me with joy, the day looks a lot different. “May your good spirit lead me on level ground.” When I think about this, I generally only apply it to big decisions or big, difficult things in life. But I don’t think that’s what God intended for us. Even in my silly, overly packed day, I can let His spirit lead me on level ground. I can let Him keep me from chaos and frustration. So now, I will do the next thing that He calls me to with joy, but I’m still hopeful that the checklist will get done in the process.
